MLTA National Spring Conference Workshops Cancelled
We regret to announce that the spring event has been cancelled for this year.
Support for the event has not been as strong as was originally anticipated, probably due to it coinciding with a national holiday and the limited lead-in time for bookings.
With this in mind we will start work immediately on planning and publicizing a spring event in England for next year, avoiding bank holidays. We will inform members as soon as we have some dates so that you can book the event on your calendar.
Please note the date for the regular MLTA Autumn Conference – 8-9 November 2008. It will be hosted at Plas y Brenin, and we will start taking bookings in the very near future.

Civil indemnity insurance policy for MLTA members
Mountain Leader Training has been engaged in discussions between the British Mountaineering Council and Perkins Slade for some time now in order to negotiate preferential insurance rates for qualified leaders and instructors, based on the excellent safety record of our award holders. This has now borne fruit with a UK-remit Civil Liability Protection Scheme (i.e. third party injury) that members may well wish to consider joining. Other policies are available from a variety of sources so members are urged to make their own decision about the sort of cover that they require.
The Insurance policy is offered to full members only, because non-qualified leaders are automatically insured with the National Council membership.
The annual premiums for the new Civil Liability Protection Scheme are as follows:
| |
Limit of Indemnity |
|
|
Below 15k turnover |
£132.42 |
£174.70 |
15k to 50k turnover |
£155.91 |
£202.88 |
